TRANSCRIPT: Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto
SCENE: As Sen. Cortez Masto makes her way through the US Capitol, Ask a Pol’s Matt Laslo asks her about the DEA moving on marijuana without Congress.
Matt Laslo: “I was curious are you still supportive of SAFER Banking?”
Catherine Cortez Masto: “Say that again?”
ML: “SAFER Banking, now that it's got the R on the end. Are you still supportive? I'm kinda curious if you guys think it gets harder to pass that now that the DEA is moving on its own to reschedule?”
CCM: “No, I think it is important we still pass that legislation. It is important that we are involved with it, that the legislation comes through Congress and weighs in. And I've been working on this for a long time, cause, as you know, in my state, we have one of those legitimate businesses. And I do really think it’s important.”
ML: “And it's a big concern?”
CCM: “Yeah.”
ML: “Yeah? Thank you, ma'am.”
