“We’re learning now that marijuana has as much negative impact on health as tobacco smoke does,” Sen. Marco Rubio exclusively told Ask a Pol.

TRANSCRIPT: Sen. Marco Rubio
SCENE: Rubio’s rushing through the basement of the US Capitol during a Senate vote this spring when Ask a Pol’s Matt Laslo hops an elevator with him, before HuffPost’s Igor Bobic grabs him before he hits the Senate floor.
Matt Laslo: “Any thoughts on the DEA announcing they’re gonna move to reschedule marijuana? I know you haven’t gotten a marijuana question from me in a while.”
Marco Rubio: “I know, I was waiting for you to drop it. I imagine it’s cause they wanna be able to conduct research on it and, I think we’re learning now that marijuana has as much negative impact on health as tobacco smoke does. There’s growing number — amount of evidence in regards to that, so hopefully they’ll take that into consideration as they decide how they’re gonna enforce scheduling it as a [Schedule] Three.”
ML: “Yeah.”
Reporter: “Senator, there's a report out there that says that you'd be willing to move, change residency to become Trump's vice president. I was wondering what you thought of that.”
MR: “Oh wow, I’m glad to learn that from the media. Well, I'll let you guys pick where I'm gonna move, how’s that?”
Reporter: “Would you be willing to do that if he offered the job?”
MR: “No one’s offered any job, so why would I answer a question I’ve never been — presented to me? Honestly, this is part of the parlor game. I never talked to him once about this so, I generally don't think about things that don't exist.”
Reporter: “Okay. That's not a no, though.”
MR: “It’s not anything.”
Laslo laughs.
ML: “’It’s not anything.’ Thank you, sir.”
