SCENE: Ask a Pol’s Matt Laslo briefly catches Sen. Deb Fischer before she heads into a meeting with her fellow Republican senators.
Matt Laslo: “How are you, ma’am?”
Laslo says after running up the stairs to greet Fischer on the 2nd floor of the US Capitol.
Deb Fischer: “How did you get up here so fast?”
ML: “I’m good at my job.”
Sen. Fischer laughs.

ML: “Do you have thoughts on the DEA moving to reschedule marijuana?”
DF: “What?”
ML: “Do you have thoughts on the DEA looking to re-examine the schedule of marijuana? Potentially dropping it from Schedule I?”
DF: “I don't know.”
ML: “Have you looked at the SAFER Banking Act?”
DF: “You know, in Nebraska, there's a petition [to put medical marijuana on the ballot] moving on, so we'll wait. I'm not gonna comment on the action here.”
ML: “But have you looked — would you support the SAFER Banking Act? Or have you not looked at it yet?”
DF: “I haven't seen it.”
ML: “Yeah. That's the one that would allow safe, legal…”
DF: “Yeah.”
ML: “Cool. Preciate ya, ma'am.”
