TRANSCRIPT: Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith
SCENE: After voting on the Senate floor, Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith is making her way back to her office via the Capitol’s underground tram when Ask a Pol’s Matt Laslo catches her briefly before the tram doors shut in his face.
Matt Laslo: “Where are you on the DEA rescheduling marijuana?”
Cindy Hyde-Smith: “I don't do the hallway interviews.”
Hyde-Smith stopped doing hallway interviews in 2018 after she embraced public hangings.
ML: “What do you think of the SAFER Banking Act?”
Ask a Pol’s Matt Laslo uses his First Amendment right to ask a few questions to the junior senator from Mississippi, Ms. Hyde-Smith, who uses her First Amendment to laugh instead of speaking on behalf of the people of Mississippi.
ML: “Preciate ya, ma'am.”
Hyde-Smith keeps walking as Laslo laughs to himself as he greets one of her Senate colleagues.
ML: “How are you, sir.”
