Who?
Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO)
LISTEN: Laslo & Schmitt
Ask a Pol asks:
Do you support the SAFER Banking Act?
Key Schmitt:
“I do — clean version of it,” Sen. Eric Scmitt exclusively told Ask a Pol. “Part of the issue is they kinda add a bunch of stuff to it. I do think it makes it more problematic.”
DEA rescheduling?
“I haven't seen it,” Schmitt told us IN May (we’re a tiny startup in the middle of an election year or these would’ve been posted already. Sorry!).
“I do think that a lot of states have — like Missouri went from CBD to medical to full adult use, and I do think there's some things to do, right? Like the SAFE Banking stuff,” Schmitt continued.

TRANSCRIPT: Sen. Eric Schmitt
SCENE: Upon exiting the tram underneath the US Capitol, Sen. Eric Schmitt stops to chat with Ask a Pol’s Matt Laslo.
Matt Laslo: “Hey, how are you, sir?”
Eric Schmitt: “Good, how are you?”
ML: “Livin’ the dream.”
ES: “Living the dream?”
ML: “Do you have any thoughts on the DEA moving to reschedule marijuana?”
ES: “I haven't seen it. I haven’t seen the details.”
ML: “Yeah? It's in a review process.”
ES: “Yeah, I haven't seen it. I mean, I do think that, like, a lot of states have — like Missouri is, you know, went from CBD to medical to full adult use.”
Schmitt signals to a group of folks who were on the other tram cars.
ES: “I'm waiting for these folks here.”
ML: “Yeah.”
Schmitt and Laslo stop.
ES: “And I do think there's some things to do, right? Like the SAFE Banking stuff.”
ML: “Do you support that?”
ES: “I do — clean version of it. I think part of the issue is they kinda add a bunch of stuff to it. I do think it makes it more problematic, so…”
ML: “Do you — like the clemency stuff?”
ES: “Yeah. I think they're gonna run that separately. That's my point of view.”
ML: “Yeah?”
ES: “But yeah, so there's gonna be some stuff to go along with, I think, that brings it up to date with where states are at. And I think, by and large, now you've got probably like 25+ states, so...”
Schmitt shrugs.
ML: “Yeah? Preciate ya. Have a good one, sir.”
